Wonderful

Laura, Hampshire

My sister got me a present for the evening spa and it was amazing. There were all these different individual rooms with different experiences. There was a gorgeous hot pool outside with jets and steam it was so lovely. Several saunas and steam rooms all of which were quiet and relaxing. Waterbeds/pods/chairs to longe in. There was an ice room, showers with a tropical setting that played birds tweeting. The fire room was so relaxing I could of stayed there most the day with a book. The shower facilities were good you did not need to bring anything. The evening meal was nutritious and there was a lot to chose from.checking in and out was easier and an excellent service throughout

Another happy visit

Peter Lucas, West Sussex

Once again we thoroughly enjoyed being pampered by the staff in the excellent facilities at Forest Mere. We were fortunate with good weather which meant we could enjoy the outdoor pool as well as the indoor one. The treatments included in our package were most enjoyable and the staff happily re-arranged these to suit our convenience. My only complaint is that the small dinghy which used to be available for guests to use on the lake is still kept out of service. "Health and Safety" is always quoted !

Marvellous and healthy break

Peter Lucas, West Sussex

A 2 night/3 day break is a great treat which leaves you pampered, fit and looking forward to returning. The staff are most helpful and appear to enjoy their jobs - they say that Champneys looks after them well and I can easily believe it. Forest Mere is in a delightful rural setting with magnificent grounds and, of course, the delightful Mere in front of the Big House complete with swans, geese etc. Both indoor and outdoor swimming pools are a big draw in the breaks between treatments/exercise sessions etc and are beautifully maintained. The rooms are comfortable and well cleaned. The food is far too good ! I know this all sounds too good to be true, but we do enjoy it so much (and have been returning yearly since 1997). My only complaint is that, for the last three years or so, the small dinghy which we enjoyed rowing round the lake before breakfast, has been "grounded" (HSE !)

Enriching Mind, Body, Soul

Joyce Threasher, Wiltshire

A welcome retreat to revitalize and rejuvenate in a tranquil environment; attentive, professional staff in the treatment spas, excellent service in the restaurant; serving healthy nourishing food. Optional activities available, indoor and outdoor pursuits. Golf course adjacent to the picturesque Forest Mere Lake. A truly beautiful setting to relax and enjoy! A very worthwhile experience we would like to share with everyone! One we will look forward to doing again in the near future.

Professional and friendly

Angela, Sussex

This is the 3rd time I've been to Forest Mere on a combination of spa days and week or mid week breaks; just superb, slick, professional service at reception and departure. Friendly, helpful catering staff, great fitness instructors and classes and top notch therapists. The food is also awesome; I always manage to eat far more than I do at home but come out having lost a pound or two. Really good value for money, would definitely recommend.

A fantastic few days

Jess Stansfield, London

The lake was the attraction when booking and the beautiful setting confirmed this as a good choice. The room was good, though next time I would opt for a ground level lake facing room, and an upgrade from basic to standard would have been fine (I had upgraded from standard to superior). The room service was also very good and the staff really pleasant and helpful. The dining room was fantastic; beautiful food and excellent service. I enjoyed all the activities, particularly the early walks in such superb surroundings. The ‘pampering’ was also really a treat. I just wish I could have afforded more! I certainly hope to go again.

Absolute luxury

marilyn, west sussex

I went on my own but never felt alone. The treatments were excellent and the staff always willing to tailor a specific treatment to ones personal needs. The staff were always helpful and friendly. The opportunity to share a 'Champneys table' at dinner was great and meant a chance to swap with others what we had done that day, and get ideas to try different treatments/classes etc. Excellent value for money.

Sarah Howard, Windsor

Booking through SpaSeekers was easy and very good value. Staff were very helpful. Champneys Forest Mere was fantastic. The rooms were lovely, the food was divine. There were lots of varied classes on offer and a very nice gym. The treatments we had were absolutely perfect. All the staff were friendly, happy and extremely helpful. There was nothing more that we could have asked for and can't wait to go back.

Amazing Place

Laura McCathy, Cardiff

This was like heaven. It was the most enjoyable weekend I have had away. The food was excellent, facilities were excellent, treatments were thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing, also, the staff were very nice and professional; I would defiantly recommend this for a weekend of total relaxation. The only thing that could have been better was the weather, but there is nothing they could have done about that.

Excellent food and facilities

Munira, Hertfordshire

Excellent use of spa products with good environment; qualified staff were very good with the massaging and explaining every detail. Food was scrumptious with health benefits in mind. Spa facilities were very clean with men and women facilities, that is, spa and changing all completely separate. Enjoyed the quiet room too with its calm atmosphere, the walks after each meal were so tranquil as the ducks were wandering around with the lake being just there too. Lots of greenery around too, ideal location for getting away from home forgetting all the hustle and bustle. The rooms had all the facilities, i.e., tea making iron press, hair dryer, etc with towels, shampoo, all provided. The only drawback was that there was no night entertainment and therefore wasn’t much to do after dinner. I would recommend Champneys spa to anybody for its excellent products, facilities and nutritious meals.

Champneys Forest Mere...what can I say? The closest thing to heaven on earth...friendly helpful staff, great food, comfortable rooms and surroundings. BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS, TOTALLY REJUVANATATED

JANET JACKSON, BROCKLEY SE4

My sister and I went to Champneys Forest Mere on a special offer 2-4-1 deal; we paid around £130 each for a 2 night stay with all meals and full use of exercise classes and equipment, it was fantastic. We are both on limited budgets, so this is the only time that we can get to experience something like this, and wow, we were in heaven. I really thought that because it was a special offer we would be hidden away in the basement or get a really grotty room, but no, it was superb. No mould or dust anywhere and lovely views. From my experience I would recommend Forest Mere, I love old buildings with lots of character and charm; and Forest Mere has this. The staff were 1st Class and very helpful and polite to everyone, from reception to the dining staff. I cannot wait to return rejuvenate my soul. – Janet.

Great place to stay

Elaine Turnbull, Dorchester

I had 4 days here with a friend and we both enjoyed it very much. The room was nice; the food was really delicious, treatments well organised and punctual and the staff friendly and helpful. Exercise classes were varied and good, the pool is a good size and there is a well equipped gym. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. We really couldn't fault it. I left feeling really refreshed and “on top of the world!”

Luxury

Anne Ainger, Reading

Set in beautiful surroundings, this old mansion house provided the perfect retreat. We had a 3 night stay with various treatments, all timed to suit us. The pool was huge, and there were also free demonstrations of all types to sign up for if you were that way inclined. The food was brilliant. We had a suite, so were in a separate dining room. 3 courses with wine all healthily prepared and beautifully presented. Other food places for the day were always fully stocked, with a lovely mix of good food, snacks, drinks and lots more besides. Staff from all areas polite and cheerful all the time. A little difficult to find, but well worth the effort once there. Have a lovely stay if you choose this one.

Sue Hawxwell, Gosport

I visited Champneys with my sister for a birthday treat and found it a very nice experience. The food, service and politeness of the staff were top notch. One small criticism; when I booked I was told that I would be sent a pack with a map, brochure etc, which never arrived. The SatNav does not take you there.

A Good Day Out

Linda lee, Didcot

I had a really lovely day. Staff were very kind and helpful and everything needed was easily available. I particularly enjoyed the thalassotherapy and could have spent twice as long on that one and still wanted more. The treatment massage was excellent and great care was shown to me. All in all it was a very relaxing day, in excellent surroundings. Thanks.

Fantastic Relaxing Experience

Joanna Bladon, Tunbridge Wells

This was my first visit to any spa for longer than one treatment or two and it was thoroughly enjoyable. I was relaxed from the moment I put on my gown and found the level of service of all the staff exceptional. Being pregnant at the time of my visit the staff were able to adapt treatments to suit and also give advice on products to use during my pregnancy. The food was exceptional and I am now looking forward to hopefully returning once the baby has been born for a further bit of R&R! Thank you to all the staff at Forest Mere for a wonderful experience.

Pure bliss

beverley wild, Kent

This is our 7th visit to Forest Mere. It's a great time for me and my two daughters to chill, chat and recharge our batteries! The treatments are fabulous, my daughters had the East meets West and also the Coconut and Ginger massages and both said they were pure bliss. I had the luxury pedicure this time. They have installed these amazing relaxing chairs which give you a back massage whilst you are having your foot pedicure, and whilst they leave you for 10 minutes to have a soak it was very easy to nod off! We love it here; the food is amazing, almost Michelin star. The rooms are luxurious and with SpaSeekers you get the upgrade which makes it even better and the staff are on hand to ensure you have the most perfect relaxing break. Just wish we could afford to go more than once a year!

Forest Mere gets the thumbs up!

Emma Smith, Bristol

I booked a 2 night stay at Forest Mere through SpaSeekers with my sister. I had never been on a spa break and didn't really know what to expect; I had secret fears it would be some kind of boot camp where they fed you lettuce, would bully you into doing exercise non-stop and would confiscate your wine! I also wondered, since Champneys has a reputation for being quite posh, whether it would have been full of rich, snooty and self obsessed people of the sort I can't stick. I could not have been more wrong. The first thing you notice is the setting, the complex is set on a stunning lakeside surrounded by woodland. The staff were all welcoming and friendly, you could chill out as much as you liked; equally you could be busy with classes or treatments all day if you wanted to! The food is amazing, I thought low fat and healthy meant it was going to be disgusting but it was all absolutely delicious. The restaurants are really lovely and you can eat overlooking the lake. The classes are good fun and they have some brilliant instructors, we tried all sorts of things we hadn't done before; from Thai Chi to urban street dance! The spa is also absolutely top notch; there is also a sheltered outdoor swimming pool, with the sun shining it felt like were abroad when we were lounging by it. We had 2 treatments included in our package; a 'citrus body glow' and a 'thalassotherapy session'. We had no clue what these were, the body glow turned out to be a full body exfoliation (not entirely comfortable but you feel great afterwards) and the thalassotherapy is like an oversized Jacuzzi filled with salty water with all sorts of water jets that massage you all over; that was lovely. We also booked a massage and an eyebrow shape, the beauticians are very professional. There are also shops on site, we went to a make up workshop and got invaluable advice on how to do our make up better; so not only did we go home feeling wonderfully relaxed, we are now looking more glamorous too! In short, we absolutely loved our short break at Forest Mere, we hope to go back next year.

Had a Fantastic time at Forest Mere, this is the third time I have been and the therapists were the best yet. Relaxation, fun and healthy eating

Jane Moore, Salisbury

Forest Mere is a welcoming and enjoyable experience. It has a first class gym, a lovely swimming pool and the fitness classes are well thought through and stretch all standards. The food is healthy but truly exquisite and very well balanced, and comes with fat and fibre guides. The treatment spa is spotless with first class treatments and a knowledgeable staff. This is a cracking spa; relaxing and fun, so good that we have booked another weekend.

A memorable trip

Tara Robins, Brighton

I went to Champneys in Forest Mere with 3 of my girlfriends. The whole trip was memorable from the time we arrived to the time we sadly had to leave. We arrived on Friday and left on Monday, we stayed in the executive rooms which were lovely. Champneys is one of the companies that listens to its customer feedback and gets it right. Every class that we attended was great fun and enjoyable. The food was delicious and the grounds of the spa and hotel were beautiful. We had a treatment included with our booking which we all thought was excellent. We all had such a superb time that we all want to go back, its just very difficult to get 4 days that none of us are working and can arrange child care!! But we are all determined to make another visit soon.

Champing at the bit!

Susan Walker, Overton

My husband bought myself and my daughter Clare a Pamperday for Christmas 2007 and my first reaction was “My God”, what has he done, so I said darling what have I done to deserve this and his reply floored me, he said darling I have to apologize it's only since I have retired I began to realize just how much you do for me so I thought I better buy you something that you would like. Well, that really started the experience for me from that moment. The staff were nice and professional, the treatments were lovely, so much so we had a treatment twice before we left. The building and grounds were in pristine condition and the restaurant was lovely, so all in all a smashing experience, for which I must get 'The Old Devil' to put his hands in his pockets again soon so that we can repeat again.

Diane Kings, Middlesex

I treated my daughter to a traditional break after her round the world travels as I thought a bit of pampering after endless hostels would be a nice way for the two of us to catch up. Everything was very enjoyable and booking through SpaSeekers very easy (and the added free extras; upgrade on room, free consultation, welcome pack with fruit basket, Champneys gift set etc, made this an easy choice!) We had a fabulous 6 days and as soon as I get the wherewithal to afford another 6 days for the two of us I shall be booking up!!

Susan Ahlquist, Somerset

My daughter and I had a wonderful weekend at Forest Mere and left feeling totally pampered, relaxed and de-stressed. Fabulous Forest Mere

Debbie Brown, East Sussex

Forest Mere is in lovely country surroundings overlooking a large lake. Staff are very attentive. The bedrooms are very comfortable and quite spacious with TV, DVD, tea/coffee facilities and are nicely decorated. The spa areas are very clean and well maintained, nice and warm in the winter with no "cold Spots". The Champneys brand treatments are quite good and they are usually the cheapest, there are also lots of interesting things on offer e.g. Iridology, palmistry, exercise classes available all day, there is a small gym, aqua fitness sessions which are really good. The pool is open long hours for people who like to swim early or late. The food is fantastic with a huge choice and quality; there is always a very plentiful hot/cold buffet at breakfast and lunch. Dinner is waiter service and very good. There are special interest talks or music in the evening or DVD’s to hire.

Mother and daughter package

Jayne Langley, Bath

Forest Mere is set in an idyllic location. On this occasion I found the welcome was a bit rushed, and as I had been to the spa previously I was able to compare it. The food was divine. The treatments were good but are very highly priced...The rooms are lovely and the general cleanliness throughout the hotel is of a very high standard. The best things about the resort is the peaceful location and the wonderful food, the facilities are also good. Areas of improvement that I would like to see would be that some of the staff be a bit more welcoming, some were lovely but there were a few who seemed not to care and what came across was that it was just a job attitude! All this said I will still look forward to returning there and I would recommend it to friends.

Ultimate pampering experience

natalie robertson, Surrey

I have been many times to Forest Mere even working there when I was 14 years old and now as a 34 year old I continue to spend as much time as possible there. I love the quiet peacefulness. There are no mobiles, noisy music or TV's blaring. If you are looking for a truly relaxing, pampering, chilled out time then Forest Mere is perfect. The treatments are so varied and tailored to make you feel amazing, the staff quiet but respectful and professional, well dressed and polite. The food plenty, yes healthy but you can have as much as you like and it is tasty, you can even have wine!! I love it there and will go as often as possible, with a friend, my mum or even on my own.

Really pleased

debbie deeney, Chichester

Really enjoyed the Spa, even though it was a day package, the information that arrived through was thorough and the check in on the day was quick. Everyone checked in quickly so people could make the most. It would be nice to know what the class timetable is in advance so could have planned classes before the visit so knew what we might do and when and what was on offer. The staff were lovely and the food really good. Made us feel very welcome and that we were having a special time even when probably on the cheapest package available. x

Bending and bonding

Sue eccles, Chipstead

My daughter and I (whose birthdays are both in July) went for a well earned short break at Champneys Forest Mere. The welcome was warm and personal and everyone went out of their way to accommodate our requests. There are plenty of free classes (hence the bending) as active or leisurely as you wish: daughter went to a mad sega-type dance class, whereas I opted for stretch and relax. Also, time for just sitting, chatting over a cup of herbal tea or hot chocolate (this place is NOT about deprivation!) and a chance to bond as mum-daughter (and friends) who otherwise have hectic lifestyles hundreds of miles apart. Refreshing of mind and spirit, roll on 2010; this could become a habit.

Ultimate feel good experience

Elaine Tickell, Horndean

I was given a Pamperday by my husband for our anniversary. I have never had a massage etc as I have always been too busy, I had no expectations. I had a wonderful time and came away totally relaxed and happy with life. Whilst having the full body massage, one leg went into cramp. I often suffered from that. It was sorted out and I haven't had an episode since. I am now keeping an eye on the Pamperday deals as 3 friends want to come with me next time. I also bought products whilst there and really enjoy using them. I am due to ring up for a full facial; I was really converted.

Constructive criticism

Kate Sommerville, London

The Spa was in a fantastic location, in a beautiful, peaceful setting. The treatment area was lovely and the staff were all really helpful and the treatment staff very good. The food at dinner was also excellent. The only criticisms were that there were areas of the spa hotel which were cold. There were a lot of windows and the heating was not adequate to deal with that, especially when walking around with damp hair in robes. The swimming area, treatment rooms and bedrooms were also all a bit chilly. Secondly the lunch buffet was a bit limited in terms of meat or fish although there were a lot of salad options. Lastly the sitting rooms looked lovely and cosy but needed a fire and also there really needed to be a licensed bar as there was nowhere to get a relaxing drink before dinner. Other than that it was a highly enjoyable visit and I would certainly go back but probably only in summer!

Excellent,with some qualifications

Elaine Turnbull, Dorchester

Accommodation, food and service cannot be faulted - all excellent. However Spa could now do with a bit of refurbishment. Not every thing was working every day while we were there and in a couple of places it was a little shabby. Treatments are good but a bit overpriced for what they offer - most of the staff are very young and not very experienced. The overriding area of satisfaction is the service, wherever it is, the dining room, the bedrooms, the spa - ALL of the staff are very friendly, pleasant and helpful - in short, nothing is too much trouble for them, which makes for a very pleasant, relaxing stay.

A Great Day Out

Catherine Mead, Guildford

Very welcoming and helpful staff that were prepared to alter the timing of our treatments having arrived and seen the class schedule. The thalassotherapy pool was absolutely fantastic. Tasty lunch with picture windows onto the beautiful grounds, the relaxation room was a little dingy. More an experience for same sex friends than mixed couples, as relaxation room, steam room and plunge pool all within changing area and there are not many poolside loungers. There is a sauna poolside.

Good service, beautiful location

Cecilia, Berkshire

This was our first experience of a residential spa, although we are regular visitors to our local day spa. We loved the food, the treatments and the range of activities. The beautiful wooded countryside was a bonus. Our bedroom was comfortable, but there was no hot water for part of our stay. The cold shower after our late night swim was an unpleasant surprise! Nevertheless, we will be back.
