Titanic Spa: the ‘ship of dreams’ where luxury pampering reaches new heights

30th November 2007

It’s the ultimate in luxury, health and self-indulgence.  The new Titanic Spa in the beautiful West Yorkshire Dales officially opens in early December and promises to be one of the most exciting and advanced spa destinations in the UK.

Titanic Spa is based in the newly renovated Titanic Mill, the Grade II former textile mill which stands on the River Colne at Linthwaite. This unique setting makes it an exclusive venue, where the latest techniques in skin care and grooming fuse naturally with the seclusion of the Colne Valley and the grandeur of Yorkshire’s industrial past.

Looking forward to welcoming clients to Titanic Spa, the Director, Warrick Burton, says: “Many people lead highly-demanding, time-pressured professional lives that leave them very little time to chill out.  We are offering them quality ‘me’ time; luxurious pampering in a serene environment.  Whether they come for a couple of hours or a whole day our team can cater for every need.”

Titanic Spa, which occupies the greater part of the ground floor of Titanic Mill, will be a ‘unique spa experience’, Warrick explains. “We have treatment packages available for both men and women and for the all aspects of face and body care utilising the purest, most exclusive skin care and treatment products.”

The Spa includes many new and unusual features. There’s a spectacular Heat and Chill Zone where the highlights include: the Mud Chamber, where partners can smother each other with mud, an aroma room, saunarium, crystal steam room, Chakra massage room, sauna and – for those brave enough to really ‘chill out’ – the Ice Room.

Central to the Heat and Chill Zone is a plunge pool. There are also three ‘experience’ showers, capable of spraying at any force, from the lightest mist to a pummelling, rain forest deluge. A number of foot spas ensure head to toe treatments and 20 individual therapy rooms offer hundreds of different treatments, a Relaxation Room, elegant nail and hair salon, a healthy-eating bistro and a retail area complete the ‘spa experience’.

Titanic Spa uses only the purest spa products in its skincare treatments, supplied by Pevonia Botanica who follow a holistic philosophy by combining nature with the very latest scientific technology providing effective skin care solutions and visible results.

“We’re proud that Pevonia UK Ltd has agreed to supply us,” says Warrick.  “They’re excellent value and can only be used or purchased at top Spas; exactly what discerning, highly individual clients want when they come here.”

Operating alongside the Spa is the separate health and fitness Club Titanic, with its heated no-chlorine leisure pool and underwater music, technogym gymnasium with Bio-strength equipment as well as cardio and strength equipment.  There is an  exclusive membership of the club.

With its easy access to the M62 and just a short drive from the M1, as well as its location in the peace and seclusion of the Yorkshire Dales, Titanic Spa looks set to benefit from the explosion in Spa tourism that is occurring world-wide.

The Titanic Spa is just one component of the development currently being undertaken at Titanic Mill by Lowry Renaissance Ltd that also includes 130 high spec one and two bed apartments, a hotel opening in 2007 and the Titanic restaurant.

When it was built in 1911 Titanic Mill was proudly trumpeted as the ‘largest and most impressive woollen mill in the district’. The imposing six-storey brick building was originally called Lowestwood Mill, but because this was the year the liner RMS Titanic was launched, it inevitably earned the nickname ‘Titanic Mill’.  The name has stuck ever since.
