Description

Stobo Castle means many different things to guests who come back to us year after year. Some join us for relaxation and pampering; some for rest among tranquil surroundings, or exercise and toning. Others are simply seeking a personal treat or beauty boost.

The only constants are those things we encourage our guests to take for granted at Stobo; excellent service, fine food, knowledgeable and elegantly trained staff, and above all, the ability to find peace in a frenetic world.

Nestled among the beautiful Scottish Borders countryside, Stobo Castle offers a deeply personal haven, or an experience for sharing with a partner or friends.

In short, we provide the backdrop for you to make the Stobo experience entirely your own.

Accommodation

A crucial part of the Stobo experience is that your time is completely your own. Your bedroom is your special place - warm and inviting, a private sanctuary in which you are free to spend as many or as few hours as you wish. Each of the Castle's 50 bedrooms has it's own individual personality. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, radio, satellite television, direct-dial telephones and tea and coffee making facilities. Many have superb views over peaceful countryside. Hailed as the ultimate in luxury guest accommodation, the magnificent Cashmere Suite was launched in February 2004. The suite pays homage to one of Scotland's oldest industries - Cashmere and sets out to depict the uses this opulent fabric can have in interior design. The bedroom and living room walls are adorned with rich claret and camel coloured cashmere and two 7x5 ft hand-painted beds from Italy are covered with this special fabric. A handcrafted limestone bath is the focal point of the luxurious bathroom, including underfloor heating and an integrated flat-screen television.

Cuisine

We believe that healthy food doesn't have to be boring. Each menu at Stobo offers superb quality and choice satisfying even the heartiest appetite. Not surprising when you consider the wealth of local produce to which we have access - salmon and trout, quality beef, game, lamb and venison as well as the freshest of vegetables and fruit. From this abundance our chefs create mouth-watering and imaginative dishes. Meals are not only delicious, they're also nutritious with a low-fat choice on every menu. You start the day with a filling breakfast to give you energy for the morning's activities. Lunch is a buffet in one of our plush dining rooms where you can help yourself to a fantastic choice of salads, meat and fish. Dinner is truly an occasion to look forward to, with a variety of tempting dishes on offer and wine to accompany your meal should you wish. Whatever you choose, you'll be enjoying fresh, natural produce beautifully cooked and stylishly presented.

Relaxation & Pampering

The best way to approach physical well-being is through a personal programme tailored to your individual needs. Your programme will almost certainly start with treatments to relax and tone the body. The new Ladies Health Suite, including the Laconium, Aromatic Steam Room and Crystal Steam Room, will rid the body of toxins leaving you feeling utterly warm and relaxed. Massage is also an extremely effective way to relax and tone. At Stobo there is a wide choice of facial treatments for men and ladies - we would suggest booking a Skin Analysis with one of our therapists who will advise on which are right for your skin type. Stobo Castle will be the only establishment in Scotland to carry out the Vie Collection of treatments in the new "Secret Garden" treatment room which was completed in late 2004. Experience a journey to the heart of five continents with Vie's unique face and body treatment using massage techniques from exotic cultures to leave your mind, body and soul in harmony.

Exercise & Activities

Within the new spa is the only 25m ozone-treated swimming pool in Scotland offering fantastic views of the countryside - a delightful setting for a swim or an aqua aerobics class. Our hydrospa is one of the most advanced of its kind. Experience an air massage along the full length of your body, an invigorating and refreshing standing massage or an excellent neck and shoulder massage from the two giant water fountains. Then there is our new state-of-the-art gymnasium with the latest equipment supplied by top fitness experts Matrix and the spacious, air-conditioned aerobic studio where you can take part in a variety of exercise, dance, movement and relaxation classes.

Timeout

Relax by the pool on one of the loungers to admire the view, or enjoy refreshments from the Coffee Shop in the spa reception area, previously the stable courtyard but now transformed into a peaceful setting with a conservatory feel. The magnificent Drawing room is the ideal place to read a book or one of the magazines or newspapers provided

Outdoors

Outdoor pursuits are very much part of the Stobo experience. We organise daily guided walks in and around the estate to make the most of our unique landscape. Or you can take a mountain bike and explore further afield. We have our own tennis court while golf, riding and fishing can easily be arranged locally

    Brilliant weekend
We had such a brilliant time at Stobo Castle, the staff were so welcoming and polite, the food was delicious and plenty of it too. The grounds are breathtaking, I could not fault it if I tried.

The food was to die for and plentiful .I like my food and therfore was concerned that I might feel hungry but it was very much the oppisite I was totally satisfied .I have recommended it to lots of family and friends and I will definately be returning myself and hopefully that will be soon

    Stobo Castle on a Budget
Thought this spa resort was out of ur price range, but decided to treat ourselves to a two night stay staying in the cheapest rooms which are the lodge rooms, Nice touches are that they wash your car for you. We opted not to book treatments and waited to see what was on when we got there. As it was my husband and me we found that the free program suited us fine, we did aquafit, swimfit, spin (indoor bikes) before lunch walk, mountain biking plus used the spa facilties. However many of the spa rooms are in the ladies changing area so this made it hard for us to do things together there was a large jacuzzi and a steam room that both sexes could use but the sauna and other steam rooms were not available to my husband. The food was very good both for breakfast, lunch and dinner not big portions but what you would expect at a health spa. We enjoyed our time but would say it is definately set out as a ladies spa resort. But felt that although we did not have any treatments we got our monies worth from all the free activities available. It would be nice next time to treat ourselves to a room in the manin building and a few treatments. A beautiful place though.
