The Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel and Spa in Blackburn is what you might call a curious mix of old and new.
On the one hand you have a 700 year old building with original turrets, porticoes, and beautiful wood panelled rooms - and on the other the totally modern Spa Naturel with treatment rooms (using Decleor and Jessica) and a fantastic thermal suite that includes a laconium, relaxing steam room and rock sauna, a gorgeous aroma grotto, and even a bio sauna.
If you don't know what any of those are, we suggest you get down there and find out!

Brilliant Local Spa Went to the Mercure Spa as a birthday treat with my partner. The swimming area is lovely with loungers to relax on. It was a lovely surprise to find the many different spa experiences in the wet area and i loved the Ice Fountain. We were given lovely white cotton fluffy robes which were comfortable to wear and you were able to eat your lunch in the cafe next door so you did not have to get changed. You could even sit outside if the weather is warm enough. I would go back without hesitation. |

Absolutly amazing, definatly recommended The spa day was amazing. I bought it as a present for my Mothers birthday and we attended the Mother and Daughter spa day. From the moment we arrived, we was well looked after with an itinery prepared for us. We had breakfast, then went down to the pool area were we had a swim and attended the jacuzzi. Available was several different saunas; all were incredible. Lunch was arranged for 1 o clock and we drank wine. The best part was the treatments, where we waited in the relaxing room until our treatments were called. The staff were incredible and so easy to talk to. I would definatly attend again and recommend to friends and family. |

Heaven for a day I recently spent the day at the Dunkenhalgh Spa for my Daughters 21st birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole day and would definitely book to go again. The day started with coffee and cake before taking full advantage of all the leisure facilities. We chose to start with a swim, before heading to the jacuzzi and sauna\'s. There are a choice of around 7 different sauna\'s but our favourite was the steam room. On speaking to the members of the spa all were very complimentary about the facilities and service. The itinery had stated that we would be given a \"lite lunch\", however this was not the case. We each had a starter of tomato and basil soup which came with a hot bread roll followed by 2 large salads which were delicious. We spent the afternoon being pampered by the very friendly staff and enjoyed a massage, facial, and manicure/pedicure. Overall money well spent. |

Most enjoyable day out Second visit to this spa and had a wonderful day out with my daughter for her birthday treat. From arriving we were taken care of, the therapists were excellent - highly recommended! Loved the Thermal Suite and Pool area. Lunch was good and enjoyed afternoon treat of fresh fruit salad. We are both planning another trip..... |

Relaxing The staff and service was excellent as was the cleanliness. The only point I would like to make is that the treatments used on my face and body weren't as non allergenic as I thought they would be. I have excema and the treatment left me a little red and sore. |

Good value The spa area is very relaxing with a lovely relaxation room for before and after your treatments . My back massage was very nice, just wish it could have lasted longer. The staff were very friendly and helpful this was my third visit to the Dunkenhalgh hotel. |

A mixed bag When we arrived at the hotel we were expecting to check in at 2pm, when we went to recption, we were told we could not check in until after 3pm. Our treatments were booked for 2:30pm and when we got to the spa, they did not have a record that we had booked through Spa seekers, so there was confusion through most of the day about what was included in our package. We also were not provided with any robes, so we had to get undressed and then dressed again for our treatments (two of us had facials and one of us had a back and neck massage), which was a little disappointing. Once all this had been sorted out we had a lovley time. The staff were eventually very apologetic and accepted responsibility, we were surprised to find dinner included in our package which was a lovely surprise. All in all we had a great time, despite the confusion and I would reccomend spaseekers website and the hotel spa to friends. |
