This quaint-looking place has an 18th century look, but the spa in the Mercure Albrighton Hall Hotel and Spa in Shrewsbury is anything but old fashioned.

The Spa Naturel has four relaxing treatment rooms, all stocked up with delicious Decleor, Bare Ecsentuals and Jessica products, and the sauna and Jacuzzi are also good for a quick relaxing session! Superb spa day experience We had a full spa day - used all the facilities in the morning which were in pristine condition, had a fantastic lunch and enjoyed the afternoon treatments - only downside was that I wish they could have gone on for longer! Excellent Our daughters booked hotel for us for one night fully inclusive package for our 40th wedding anniversary .Very nice room although the carpet looking like it could do with replacing, food excellent grounds very nice. Relaxing Experience The spa is going through renovation at the moment so accommodation is a bit topsy turvey. I think the initial receptionist was new therefore was not slick in her presentation nor communicating the process of the day. The entire place could have been much cleaner and the changing rooms were not efficient. On the plus side the gym facilities were very good, the lunch was delightful and my therapist was very good. Mother and Daughter Experience After many attempts to use my voucher with Spa Seekers, eventually settled a date.and venue. The therapist was most friendly and accomodating as were the rest of the health spa staff . Orgininally we wanted our treatments together and not catered for, however it did not interfer with our pleasurable experience and may have been a more self indulgant relaxing experience particulary for my mother. the waiting room could have been alot warmer and needed magazines while we waited for treatment. Lunch was limited, small but tasty. The pool, sauna and steam room were a little tired. The steam room wasnt much of a steam room and according to regulars this had been poor for some time. I did have the pleasure of having, the small but sufficent , pool to myself for half an hour. Despite being the Sunday before mothers day the whole spa was extremel quiet which added to our relaxing experience. A relaxing day A nice welcome by staff and comprehensive run down of the day. Tour of facilities, which compared to other spas, were reasonable. Good gym and opportunity to use the pool, jacuzzi, steam rooms and saunas. These facilities were good, but not outstanding, and, even though accessed on a Saturday, not crowded. Did become a little more used late afternoon when hotel guests were arriving for the evening.Lunch included which was copious. Could maybe have offered more healthy salad alternatives and simple but tasty cuisine rather than sandwiches and chips. Relaxing lounge to eat and read papers, although quite close to the reception desk so I felt a little underdressed in my towelling robe!Excellent massage and perfect relaxed setting. Manicure and pedicure were fine but little more than a quick shaping of nails and varnish rather than a proper session. Treatment times were pre-booked and ran to time. All in all a relaxing day, good for destressing but needs more attention to detail (e.g. cleanliness, food, provision of extra towels etc.) to be seen as an extra-special experience. A very relaxing break This spa experience was a birthday present for my wife. We arrived at approx 10:30 on a Saturday morning and were offered complimentary drinks. After ordering our lunch, we were then shown all of the facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful.Although the spa pool is quite small, it is very powerful and enjoyable. I can imagine the pool can fill up quickly as is quite small, but there were only a few people in so we had the pool to ourselves for most of the day. The steam rooms were very disappointing, as there was very little steam in either of them (an engineer was supposed to be investigating, but we didn't see one whilst we were there). The experience showers didn't live up to expectations either, as the heads were clogged up with limescale. In the afternoon, we had our massages. The massages were very relaxing and only disappointment here was that we had booked the couples experience, but we were ushered into separate rooms for the whole 1.5 hours.Overall, we enjoyed the experience and would probably go back again, but next time we will take our gym kit and make full use of the facilities.
