Southampton is the home of Sailing. Based around the Solent – sailing simply doesn’t get any better! Across the Solent is Cowes on the Isle of Wight, only a short trip on a catamaran. There are many water-based festivals throughout the year on and around the Solent including Cowes week. Power Boat racing and many more. The friends provident St Mary’s Stadium is of course home to Southampton FC. “The saints” stadium is only a fifteen minute walk from the hotel and is great for a guided tour. Other places of interest include: The Rose Bowl, home of the Hampshire County Cricket, the New Forest where you can walk, cycle and see the famous ponies, Beaulieu with its famous National Motor Museum. Visit the 11th Century cathedral, the Great Hall and King Arthur’s Round Table and resting place of Jane Austin in historic Winchester or explore the home of the late Lord Mountbatten, Broadlands in Romsey. Go for a modern and medieval tour and learn about Viking King Canute, Richard the Lionheart, henry V, to the ill-fated Titantic, D Day landings, Qe2 and Queen Mary at Tour Hampshire.
