The Hotel’s and Club’s location on the Bolton Abbey Estate provides guests with a wonderful countryside playground with over 80 miles of footpaths and trails, seven miles of river (excellent for trout fishing) and the attraction of the church and ruins of a 12th century Augustinian priory which celebrated its 850th anniversary in 2004.
Relaxation & Pampering
Relaxing, rejuvenating, replenishing, rebalancing, revitalising and redressing the stresses of modern day living in a calm, comfortable and soothing environment. Bodies respond to kindness not attack and this is the philosophy of the therapy team at The Devonshire Club. A spa experience can profoundly promote a deep feeling of well-being – to be pampered and cared for whether with a whole body massage, a hot stones treatment or Indian head massage, the whole purpose is to leave feeling totally relaxed and ready to face the world and take on new challenges.
Problematic areas are addressed sympathetically with the therapies carried out at The Devonshire Club benefiting the individual needs of the client. Special pre-natal therapies, treatments for specific aches and pains and skin problems use the finest ingredients taking into account all the contra-indications involved resulting in total relaxation and skin tonicity.
Luxury Spa Days at The Devonshire Club include a consultation with a professional therapist, luxury robes and the full use of the Club’s facilities – swimming pool, spa, steam room, sauna, cold water plunge pool and gym. A light lunch and soft drinks are also included.
Exercise & Activities
The Devonshire Club offers the chance to use the indoor exercise facilities whilst its situation, within the parkland setting of The Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel and the 30,000 acres of the Bolton Abbey Estate, provides visitors with the greatest “green gym” in the country. Over 80 miles of footpaths and hiking trails alongside the riverbank, through woodland and up on to the moors offer good jogging routes and cross country running tracks. 7 miles of river is open for fishing – reputedly the best anti-stress outdoor activity. Private tuition can be arranged at every level.
Tennis lessons are available on the Club’s own all weather tennis court and for groups the hotel’s own cricket pitch can be made available subject to local team matches.
Nearby there is golf, rock climbing, pot holing, horse riding, clay pigeon shooting and 4 x 4 off road driving all of which can be organise through the hotel.
