Introduction

The Spa at the Cedar Court Grand is unique as it is situated in the vaults of the building, which was once the Headquarters for the Great North Eastern Railway. This lends it an air of exclusivity and you will feel completely removed from the bustling city of York. This is the only 5* Hotel in Yorkshire and as such offers luxury throughout, from the 2 rosette Grill Room Restaurant to the exclusive cocktail bar and whisky lounge and the 107 individually furnished bedrooms and suites. You will be able to enjoy traditional Yorkshire warmth and hospitality in a 5* environment.

The Spa & Treatments

The Spa at the Grand continues the theme of 5* luxury offering a range of treatments from top International skin care brand ESPA. You will be able to select from a range of massages, body wraps, facials, manicures and pedicures. For something more specialist the spa offers holistic relaxation treatments, pre and post natal experience massages and anti-cellulite wraps. Manicures and pedicures are offered by Jessica and range from a quick file and polish to a luxurious treatment with heated mitts and booties.

Fitness

The Spa at the Grand has a state of the art gym equipped with Cybex equipment from America. There is a selection of equipment for a variety of training needs as well as fully trained personal trainers on hand to offer inductions or just friendly advice. The Spa also includes at 14 metre swimming pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi which can be used before your treatments or after your work out.

Rooms

The Cedar Court Grand offers 107 bedrooms over 5 floors, which range from our Classic rooms through to our range of suites and Penthouse apartment. The rooms are all individually furnished, some offering views of the walls and the historic city of York. Many rooms offer a separate walk-in shower with suits providing a separate lounge area to give you the space to chill out properly.

Cuisine

Many spa days include a two course lunch in the two rosette Grill Room Restaurant. The restaurant focuses on classic British dishes with a modern twist. Alternatively, you can eat in our relaxation lounge, enjoying a selections of sandwiches and snacks brought to you in the comfort of your robe (please be aware eating in the relaxation lounge must be pre-booked).

Nice hotel, but small spa The Cedar Court Hotel is located in a beautiful building and the SPA appeared spacious on arrival, but it really was quite small. The good thing was I had almost sole use of the facilities - good pool, sauna and steam room. The treatments were good, but I had to move from room to room for each different treatment - so five minutes in the pedicure room, move to the manicure room for another five minutes, etc.The relaxation room is tiny and it wasn\'t very pleasant trying to balance a lunch tray on my knees whilst lying on the bed. Overall, the experience was pleasant, but had there been more people there it would have felt very overcrowded. We will be back! The location of this spa is fantastic, right in the centre of York, very near the train station; within a beautifully impressive hotel. The range of treatments was very good and the packages offered were competitively priced. The quality of service here is excellent. They understood that our objective for the day was to relax and catch up with friends and they delivered! The atmosphere is welcoming and the facilities are to a high standard. However, the facilities are currently quite compact (particularly the relaxation room) but we understood that plans were in place to extend. All in all an enjoyable day, we will be back!
