    Friendly, relaxed, wonderful Surroundings
Wonderful place, Staff were very attentive, it has a really friendly and relaxed atmosphere, the Spa treatments were fabulous and the Spa and Gym were excellent. The pool was a little crowded in the morning with childrens classes but it was a Saturday and there was plenty of other things to do. Lovely surroundings to go walking. The only negative experience was the food, It was only just edible. The chicken was very dry and over cooked, the bread was a bit stale and dry, others in the group experienced similar standard of food. It was such a great day though and it did not spoil the experience. I would recommend this spa and in fact as I live locally have decided to join the leisure club.

    Mother and daughter spa day
We had a fabuolous mother and daughter spa day. Me and my friend took our mums along. The whole day went well, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the treatments. My only criticism would be that we weren't able to make full use of the pool due to a children's swim class. Also, the 2 course lunch was just sandwiches and a pudding. A light hot lunch would have been preferable, especially considering the amount we had paid. Apart from these two points, it was very well organised and thoroughly enjoyable.

    Relaxing day out
We had never been on a spa day before so had no idea what to expect. This was a treat for our siver wedding anniversary . My husband was a little apprehensive about this experience. We was extremely surprised at how laid back and friendly the atmosphere was. It was not full of 'posh ladies', infact quite the opposite. The majority of people using the facilities was infact mostly men which instantly put my husband at ease. We had 3 treatments which we both totally enjoyed. The facial was a fabulously relaxing experience. We both had back, neck and shoulder massages and my husband had a scalp massage whilst I had a manicure. We enjoyed a casual lunch and relaxed in the pool, sauna , jacuzi and steam room. At the end of the day we both left feeling as if we had not a care in the world, and felt completely relaxed and refreshed. We would love to go back again in the near future.

    A relaxing experience
A very impressive venue and location greeted us, before our welcome tour at the start of our mother & daughter pamper day. The leisure centre is clean and well maintained, with pool, sauna & steam room. There was a varied lunch & dessert menu and the quality of the food was excellent. We each had 3 treatments with separate therapists so there was no having to wait for each other. Overall, we were both very pleased with our day.

    special day out
The spa day was lovely. Staff were friendly and chatty- or not-they took their lead from the client. I would have liked a foot massage to be included in either the full body massage or the mini pedicure.

First spa but not the last
The staff were great, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I took a pilates class and the instructor, Angie, was excellent. She explained the exercises and demonstrated the move first and also asked if anyone had any health problems that might be affected. The treatments were lovely, very relaxing and thorough. My only reservation would be that the spa is also an hotel and so the public areas are not as relaxing as they would be in a dedicated spa. That apart we had a great day and would do it again.

    Wonderfully relaxing day
I booked the "Lovers Pamper Day" for my wife and I. We had a most enjoyable day, making the most of either relaxing by the pool, eating in the restaurant and being pampered by the staff of the health spa. We had 3 treatments each including a shoulder/back massage, scalp massage and facial. The spa was located in beautiful derbyshire countryside and the spa itself has a good standard of facilities. My only complaint from the day was the standard of food included in the day. We were hoping for a proper lunch, but unfortunately it was only mediocre pub type food, i.e. baked potatoes or sandwiches.

    Great Hen doo!
Myself and 5 other friends/family attended the Hen Do deal. The spaseekers package was excellent value as the treatments alone would have cost about £30 each and we had 2 included in our deal of £85. The setting of the hotel was beautiful and it was all very relaxing. There are 2 things I was a little disappointed about. The first thing was that the Priory Retreat were we had our treatment was separate to where we used the pool, Jacuzzi etc, so we had to keep getting changed to go for treatments then for lunch. This wasn't really very clear on the website - just presumed all would be together in own area so could wear robes etc. The other thing was to do with lunch. I understand this is again separate to the retreat but lunch was delayed in the hotel so we were late for treatments. There was no communication between the hotel bar/restaurant and the spa. I think if doing a deal which includes lunch then there needs to be someone liasing with both so lunch is provided quickly with no probes. Other than that, a fabulous day for my hen do!!

    Skip the leisure facilities
My friend and I visited Breadsall Manor in Derbyshire as a treat booked by our husbands, therefore we had no idea what to expect.  Breadsall Manor is a beautiful hotel set in stunning grounds. My friend and I decided to make use of the leisure facilities so ventured off the the changing rooms. One nice touch is that towels are provided, however, I was disappointed to find that all of the four lockers that I tried to use, had their doors hanging off the hinges-a maintenance issue I think! Off we went to the pool area and straight to the steam room. Quite a small room which was already occupied by a couple of ladies and the acoustics meant that we could not hear ourselves talk. The Jacuzzi was too crowded to use so we went to the sauna.  Again too crowded so we sat around the pool which we didn't feel we could use comfortably as it was being used for children's swimming lessons. I wouldn't tolerate this situation at my own gym so to come to a spa weekend to find the facilities overcrowded and used by children was disappointing. We had lunch on the terrace which was OK, but we were both a little surprised to receive a bill for drinks.  To provide a meal without drinks is a little mean in my opinion. My first treatment was at 2pm, so my friend took some magazines and waited in the restaurant area-again a little disappointing not to have a comfortable self contained area to relax in whilst waiting for treatments. I was led up to a small treatment room and had a 1/2 hour facial which I really enjoyed.  It was nice to be able to relax and have an indulgent treatment. My friend then had her back and neck massage and I took this opportunity to sit and read around the beautiful ornamental pool beside the hotel. I must say the the grounds are immaculately tended to. I then had a 1 hour full body massage which was really lovely, followed by nail and foot varnishing, performed by a really pleasant young lady, Olwyn I think her name was. We finished around 5.45pm. I advise that you read the description of what to expect from a spa day before you book as there is obviously a real difference between a Health Farm, Spa Day and a Hotel Spa experience

    Left feeling dissapointed.
I was given this pampering day by my son for my birthday, I arrived at 10am as requested I was told to go into the lounge area where a member of staff would come and show me around. This was full of parents watching their children have swimming lessons, gym club members, and golfers. The leisure facilities were nothing more than satisfactory, the children in the pool took the edge off my pamperday. The room i had my treatment in was tiny, the girl could only get around one side of the table. She was very pleasant, but I did not feel relaxed or pampered by what she did, I was left feeling sticky and greasy. After speaking to friends who go regularly for spa days, this was nothing like they described. I left feeling very disappointed.

    Dissapointing spa expereince
    We arrived at the appointed time to find the Spa locked. Nobody around. We found the bar, told to buy ourselves a coffee. After 40 minutes expressed our disatisfaction. 10 minutes later the receptionist turned up. No introduction! Lunch order taken - golfers bar not restaurant! Told we could use the pool if we wished. Turn up at Treatment Room at appointed time. Treatments not bad at all! Changing Rooms v poor, Steam Room poor, No robes! A most unsatisfactory place to go (splendid Marriot Hotel surroundings);

    Blissful Experience
I booked the Mother and Daughter package as a special treat for us both. We took advantage of all the facilities at Breadsall Priory including the gymnasium, pool and sauna areas aswell as the dining area and treatment rooms. Upon arrival, we were told there had been a slight mix up and we wouldn't be able to have the treatments at the same time. To apologise for this, we were given a free drink and passes to visit again within 6 months! All the staff and facilities were professional and welcoming which made for a very blissful overall experience - highly recommended!

    Mum's Secret Sanctuary
I was lucky to have been given a spaseekers pamper day voucher for my birthday, and I deliberately saved it for a dark dismal day in deepest Autumn, knowing I would appreciate it even more. I chose Breadsall Priory, as I had seen the grounds myself previously, and just knew that I was going to enjoy spending a day there. I have visited several spas both in England and abroad, and love being by myself, or with a few friends, getting away from the whole work/mum experience, for a few hours, and being spoilt. If you want to escape to a very special mini-paradise for a day, this is the place. From the moment you enter the magnificent grounds to the time when you (sadly) have to leave, feeling refreshed, serene but ready to take on the world (again)!Yes, there are other spas to visit, but, if like me you occasionally want/need to do something entirely for you, and would prefer to take time out on your own (or mabe with just one special friend), then this is the one for you. Beautiful surroundings, attentive staff, heavenly therapies and treatments, make a visit good value for money. Just, please don't tell everybody!!!
