Spa Information
So you are looking for a Spabreak or Spa Day, but you don't know where to go. Different friends have given you different advice. Remember your friends ideal Spa may not be your ideal Spa for a number of reasons. Spabreaks do vary considerably, there is a distinct difference, for example between a Health Farm experience at a Champneys Health Farm compared to that of a Marriott Spa Hotel. Both very good but both very different. Spas also vary for Spa Day packages. We have provided the chart below which will point out the major difference between Health Farms, Hotel Spas and Day Spas in the hopes that you choose the right Spa for you. Health Farm
| Overview | A more personalised experience than a Hotel Spa. A higher staff to guest ratio, with a larger range of daily actives and you can lounge in a towel robe all day in all parts of the building. No children. |
| Activities | There is always a daily schedule of activities and relaxation classes at a health farm. Evening talks and demonstrations akin to health, beauty and fitness. |
| Bar | Most health farms will not offer a bar. However you can have wine with your meal. |
| Children | The minimum age at a health farm is 16 years old. |
| Conferences | Generally no conferences at health farms. Some will offer a small informal conference facility, conducted in a discreet manner. |
| Dress code | Very relaxed and informal throughout the day, Towel robe/tracksuit by day and casual wear in the evening. |
| Facilities | will offer an extensive range of facilities |
| Food & Drink | Everything on the menu at a health farm is calorie counted. Don't believe the myth of a lettuce leaf and carrot juice for dinner. Health Farm cuisine is delicious and satisfies the heartiest of appetites. Should you wish to diet, several health farms offer a separate low calorie dining room. |
| Grounds | Located in picturesque peaceful surroundings, ideal for walks, jogging, bike rides etc. |
| Medical | Tends to be a little more medical, some more so than others. |
| Mobile Phones | No |
| Staff | Highly motivated and caring, offering a personal service with a high percentage of staff to guest ration. |
| Treatments | An extensive range of specialised body treatments and alternative therapies are on offer. |
Hotel Spa
| Overview | Towel robes only in the Spa area, more formal for the evenings, will also offer a bar, A La Carte Menu's, Children under the age of 16. Also offers conferences. A great Spa experience - but very different to a Health Farm! |
| Activities | Generally less classes per day, this varies between hotel spa. |
