Making weight loss personal at Champneys
I know I’ve been to a spa hoping that I’ll lose a bit of weight while I’m there, and telling myself that this time I WILL use the gym, and not just half heartedly sit daydreaming in the whirlpool thinking about whether the hydrotherapy jets are breaking down my cellulite.
Well, maybe I’ll get serious about weight loss one day, and try out the fabulous brand new Ki personalised weight loss systems that have just been introduced to Champneys. Ki (pronounced ‘key’) did extensive research into the science of energy balance and weight loss to come up with a clinically proven weight loss system that’s now available as part of the Champneys Weight Management and Fit Camp spa packages. The system works on your personal data instead of just an average, and involves you wearing an armband that shows you how many calories you burn – even in your sleep! The team at Champneys uses the data from the armband to help you lose weight and get fitter while you’re on your spa break.
Champneys Fitness and Wellbeing Director Louise Day believes that the Ki Fit Monitors really motivate guests because they give them real time information about their personal performance. She says, “The results have been phenomenal and we are seeing guests exceed their fitness and weight loss goals.”
Personally, my lazy brain homed in on the part about burning calories while I was asleep…must try harder! You can also get the armbands online but Champneys guests do get a preferential rate. Dare I try a Ki armband? Well, it will soon be time for the ‘slim into the Christmas dress’ diets…maybe someone will invite me to Champneys and I can give it a go?

Rolling back the years
I saw a piece in the Daily Mail recently by Liz Jones, who is extolling the virtues of her recent facelift like a convert to a new religion. She said that she’d been advised by a leading cosmetic surgeon that beauty treatments and creams don’t work, and that he believed staying out of the sun, and avoiding smoking and alcohol are the only things that will make any difference. Apart from expensive cosmetic surgery of course. Hmmm.

Spa Paper Pants
You might have noticed a reference to paper pants in my description of the glorious Oriental Bathing Experience at Lifehouse Spa. The paper knickers issue has long been a bug bear of mine – surely there is no woman on earth that can truly relax wearing a scrap of tissue paper to cover what’s left of her modesty. I’m not a size eight, but I’m sure that even if I was, that tiny scrap of nothing wouldn’t cover much of my modesty.

Teens like a spa pamper too!
Do you remember when you were a girl, sneaking into your mum’s bedroom, trying on her shoes and make up, and pretending you were all grown up? As a teen, your first make up of your own is a big thing – if your teens were anything like mine, you graduated from a Girl’s World to a bumper pack of generic make up somewhere in the eighties and spent most of your school years deliberating between green and blue eye shadow…the photographs have been destroyed…

Want to win a Spa Break?
Do we have some great news for you? The fantastic Macdonald Crutherland House Spa in East Kilbride is giving away a spa break. If it wasn’t totally unethical, I’d snaffle this prize myself and get myself away from it all. It’s a proper retreat, with views of the gardens and surrounding woodlands that will make you feel all calm and serene, even if you’re juggling about ten different deadlines before you go (pick me, pick me…)

Spa Break with a difference
I promised you the heads up on my spa break at Lifehouse, and I’m happy to report back that the place was as amazing as I thought it would be. It hardly seems possible that the place has been open for just a few months (after all, it’s already won accolades as one of the CNN Top Ten wellness retreats) because everything just seems to run so seamlessly and effortlessly…and everyone’s just so amazingly friendly too.

Mum’s first Spa Day…
I made a list of things I wanted to do before I hit the big 4-0 this year and one of them was asking my mum to a spa. She’s never been, although I keep promising her (and talking about taking her on my blog, which only gets her excited) so I thought it was about time we did the mother and daughter spa break together.

Spa Goddess Sarah talks spots….
I’ve had another interesting question sent through which I thought I’d share with you all! Now, I don’t know how you feel on the subject, but when I’m on a spa day, I want to feel like a Goddess, not so much like a mere mortal. So I’m all for being pampered, massaged and exfoliated…but if I have a spot, I’m going to deal with it in my own time.

SpaSeekers up for an Award
I know it’s blowing our own trumpet a bit, but SpaSeekers have been nominated for an award through The Spa Traveller website. We’re up for an award for the Best UK Spa Bookings Agency, which is just fantastic, as of course I think SpaSeekers are the best – for their attention to detail and the fact they aren’t just a search engine, they have people on hand to chat to who have been on spa breaks and really know what they’re talking about when it comes to helping people find a spa deal that suits their lifestyle, budget and personal likes and dislikes.

Spa Goddess Sarah loves…the Elemis airport Spa experience!
I’m sorely tempted to try and talk the man into booking a holiday, somewhere that flies out of Heathrow, since I’ve heard the news that British Airways and Elemis are working together to give stressed out travellers a spa treatment in some of their lounges.
