Went to the spa as a birthday treat from my son, it was the first time for my daughter-in-law and I it was perfect. The staff and facilities where great. Planning our next visit now
Went on the 2 for 1 summer deal package - massage, facial, use of facilities and lunch for 2 people! Fantastic value at £59 - I have paid that for just a massage in the past!
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the facilities were excellent! I especially liked the relaxation room where you could wait for your treatment - very hard not to fall asleep!
Lunch was lovely, sat overlooking the grounds of the hotel - beautiful!
After being a bit worried by the start (pumping dance music could be heard in reception coming from a gym class and then after booking in we were told, by the way, you can't use the pool between am and pm as there's an aqua aerobics class on!) this turned out to be a lovely, relaxing, value-for-money day. Great facilities, great treatments (facial and massage) by friendly, professional staff and delicious food in the lovely surroundings of the restaurant, waited on by a very polite, smart young man. Would definitely recommend to others and would certainly return.
Spent a great afternoon here celebrating my sisters 40th birthday. We spent a couple of hours using the pool and various steam rooms before having lunch and then finishing the day with our treatments. The whole day was brilliant - the staff were very friendly and helpful, the lunch was delicious and the treatments totally relaxing. We booked this as a pamper day package and it was excellent value for money. We will definately return and have recommended to friends.
We chose this place because it advertised as a quiet country hotel. The spa experience was excellent and the staff could not be faulted. We wished to eat outdoors in the sunshine and the staff in the hotel were amazingly accommodating and moved tables into the sunshine for us. We retired to our room at approximately 11pm. Unfortunately at 11:15pm a very loud disco started up, (from what I have since been informed was a charity event) and kept us awake until nearly 2 am.
I feel the hotel needs to decide if it is a quiet rural retreat or an event venue, because both do not work together.
My friend Belinda, who accompanied me to the spa experience, is recently in remission from breast cancer and this treat was for both of us to unwind and relax. Had we known about the event, we may have booked for the day, returning home to our nice quiet beds.
If you’re looking for a little bit of Victorian style ambience from your spa day, look no further than the elegant Macdonald Kilhey Court Hotel and Spa, near Wigan. It’s a lovely hotel spa that’s surrounded by ten whole acres of pretty garden-style grounds, and the hotel is a charming country house style establishment that suits a pamper day very well. In the winter you can enjoy the heat from the cosy log fire in the lounge, and you can enjoy the relaxed Vital Health and Wellbeing club all year round, along with the delicious food in the Laureate restaurant.
The spa caters for all your pampering needs with a menu that features the very best in beauty brands and a selection of treatments that's hard to beat. Sink into a soothing Elemis massage or relaxing facial and feel your cares float away, enjoy a body treatment or go with the flow and book in for a Hot Stone massage or Hopi Ear Candling. Don't let your spa day stop at the treatment room - there's plenty to keep you busy after your treatments too. A lap pool for some relaxing swimming, a relaxation room for when you just don't want to be disturbed, and of course a sauna and steam room.
You can top off your perfect spa day with a trip to the great fitness facilities in the Vital Health and Wellbeing club in the hotel, which includes a not to be missed Technogym fitness suite that has everything you need to carry out a good strength or cardio workout. If the gym doesn't really float your boat, you can walk in the gardens, swim in the pool or just give the fitness a miss and chill out by the pool instead.
There are plenty of options for eating in the Kilhey Court Hotel - the lounge is cosy and relaxed, and a great option for a light lunch or quick bite. For a well-bred and locally-sourced menu that just oozes culinary style, the lovely Laureate restaurant offers you plenty of choice and a refined eating experience which incorporates seasonal ingredients. If you just want a drink, there's always the bar for a cheeky glass of something...
