A tour of Rowhill Grange Hotel and Spa

Rowhill Grange Hotel and Spa is a proper little gem, a gorgeous 18th century country house style hotel surrounded by fields, lakes and - well - ducks.  When I visited there were also a couple of adorable foals in the fields too, and there are some amazing views across the countryside.

In fact the bathrooms in the Master Suites are probably bigger than my bathroom at home, and much more elegant.  All the rooms are individually decorated, beautifully and tastefully. Beds are big and comfortable and furnishings complement the rooms perfectly.  I was thinking of asking for some interior design tips myself, after a nose around...

The Perfect Retreat

The spa is a perfect retreat - go through past the hotel reception and welcoming bar and there it is. Staffed by friendly, approachable people, the Utopia Spa is small but has absolutely everything you need for a lovely spa day. The pool areas are on two levels, with the hydrotherapy pool and Jacuzzi on a lower level along with a steam room, and a swimming pool on the upper level. Both are beautifully decorated to look like authentic Roman baths, and a surrounding relaxation area. The beds, I noticed, are perfect ‘reading a magazine’ angle. The hydrotherapy pool has two powerful jets, which are fantastic for un-knotting sore back and shoulder muscles but not for the faint-hearted!

I was booked in for lunch at RGs restaurant which was quiet (I went on a Monday) and the waiters couldn’t do enough for me. Like most spas, everyone wanders into lunch with a robe on (a little hint - take sandals or spa slippers as they weren’t provided) and the atmosphere is relaxed - with a side order of ‘a little bit special’. The food was delicious, and I have to give a special mention to the chef who arranged for me to have a fruit salad off-menu for dessert. The desserts were all gorgeous but even Spa Goddesses need to watch their weight sometimes...they arranged a delicious, fresh fruit salad with no fuss, full of exotic fruits and berries.

Sublime facial

Thumb_picture of the spa treatments at Rowhill Grange Hotel & Utopia Spa, Dartford by SpaSeekers.com My treatment was lovely - I was booked in for a My Kinda Skin Prescription Facial, a complete smorgasbord of beauty treatments and products spread out over a delicious 55 minutes. Rowhill Grange) and sister spa, Alexander House in Sussex, use the fabulous Temple Spa product range, one which I hadn’t come across before, all based on a ‘no nasties’ philosophy, full of antioxidants and other skin goodies. What’s more, they are ‘results-based’ so although the treatments are divine and a very nice way to spend a Monday afternoon in September, they are actually designed to do real good.

The facial was incredibly relaxing - as you can imagine, with a 55 minute long treatment, it wasn’t just restricted to my face, the lovely Ellie also administered a scalp massage that almost sent me to sleep as well as a hand and arm massage with an absolutely gorgeous smelling body lotion that I could still smell when I’d got home that evening.  She also massaged the products into my face, which felt amazing and made me feel really pampered. I sometimes find that after a full-on facial my skin can feel a little bit oily, as I’m blessed with combination skin, but the prescription facial really seemed to suit my skin and it felt lovely even when I went to bed that night.

I would have loved to have stayed at Rowhill Grange overnight - they have some great overnight deals and the rooms are fantastic. It’s one of those places that it’s almost a shame just to book a day in...
