Initial welcome professional and helpful. Reception area bright and welcoming. Rooms are nice, downstairs rooms have French doors into gardens. Pool very nice. Food and menu choice in restaurant excellent. The general areas and Spas decidedly grubby and lack thorough cleaning. Restaurant certainly needing vacuuming! Treatments excellent but many staff seemed lacklustre. The Spaseekers experience was extremely good and helpful. Would certainly use again.
Day was ok, food was good but treatments were average.
Champneys is a fantastic, clean relaxing place to be with plenty of choice of classes or gym or just doing nothing! The healthy meals are excellent. i would live there!!
Champneys Springs from the minute you walk in is a very warm and welcoming place. It has a very relaxing environment - no standing on ceremony. The majority of staff have been there for years and remember everyone so you instantly feel part of it. Whether you are there to lose weight (though I struggled with this as the food is fresh and tasty and to such a high standard, I particularly love lunch and the chef cooking on the restaurant floor for you)exercising - huge range of classes that start each day at 7am with aqua aerobics(yes I made it to all 6of these)or pampered with a huge array of treatments (I had 6 different therapist in a week and I would have them all again and my back had no knots in it when they had finished) you will do all of these and relax so much that yes by the end you will fall asleep on the couches in the afternoon like the rest of them. I would highly recommend.
My daughter and I took the 2 night break over the New Year, which may account for a seeming lack of staff! The New Years Eve meal and social event was lovely. The staff really worked hard to make it a special event. However, during the daytime there seemed to be a bit of a shortage of serving staff in the restaurant and definitely in the cafe/refreshment area. My main "gripe" is one of ageism. I am 64 and my daughter 40. We had identical treatments obviously carried out by different ( young) therapists. My daughter was questioned far more on her skin type, her expectations, given far more advice. When we compared notes it was as if I was invisible and just another "body on the slab.” All in all I enjoyed myself and I thought the facilities and accommodation was of a very good quality. It was just this disappointing feeling that I was not as valued as a Client as perhaps a younger person
