Lovely meal and helpful staff in restaurant. We went for a spa evening but not much in the way of actual spa facilities, one steam room not working, separate facilities for male and female. Nice pool. Would not go back.
Good treatments and friendly staff. Lovely hot meal at lunch and very relaxing thalassotherapy session. However facilities are looking a little tired and need a refurbishment.
The Spa was in a fantastic location, in a beautiful, peaceful setting. The treatment area was lovely and the staff were all really helpful and the treatment staff very good. The food at dinner was also excellent. The only criticisms were that there were areas of the spa hotel which were cold. There were a lot of windows and the heating was not adequate to deal with that, especially when walking around with damp hair in robes. The swimming area, treatment rooms and bedrooms were also all a bit chilly. Secondly the lunch buffet was a bit limited in terms of meat or fish although there were a lot of salad options. Lastly the sitting rooms looked lovely and cosy but needed a fire and also there really needed to be a licensed bar as there was nowhere to get a relaxing drink before dinner. Other than that it was a highly enjoyable visit and I would certainly go back but probably only in summer!
Accommodation, food and service cannot be faulted - all excellent. However Spa could now do with a bit of refurbishment. Not every thing was working every day while we were there and in a couple of places it was a little shabby. Treatments are good but a bit overpriced for what they offer - most of the staff are very young and not very experienced. The overriding area of satisfaction is the service, wherever it is, the dining room, the bedrooms, the spa - ALL of the staff are very friendly, pleasant and helpful - in short, nothing is too much trouble for them, which makes for a very pleasant, relaxing stay.
A 2 night/3 day break is a great treat which leaves you pampered, fit and looking forward to returning. The staff are most helpful and appear to enjoy their jobs - they say that Champneys looks after them well and I can easily believe it. Forest Mere is in a delightful rural setting with magnificent grounds and, of course, the delightful Mere in front of the Big House complete with swans, geese etc. Both indoor and outdoor swimming pools are a big draw in the breaks between treatments/exercise sessions etc and are beautifully maintained. The rooms are comfortable and well cleaned. The food is far too good ! I know this all sounds too good to be true, but we do enjoy it so much (and have been returning yearly since 1997). My only complaint is that, for the last three years or so, the small dinghy which we enjoyed rowing round the lake before breakfast, has been "grounded" (HSE !)
Champneys Forest Mere is what you might call a spa with connections. It was once part of a hunting lodge in the Royal Forest of Woolmer, and it’s also a part of the South Downs National Park, which makes it a little bit special. Forest Mere is probably the most glamorous of the Champneys foursome, with a location in a secluded forest in Hampshire that makes it a big hit with celebrity spa lovers and anyone looking for a delightfully relaxed spa experience. Forest Mere has its very own alternative therapy centre as well as a fabulous outdoor heated pool and a terrace restaurant with some of the best views in Hampshire.
With its glamorous feel, you would expect to be pampered in style at Forest Mere, and you won't be disappointed. Enjoy one of the sumptuous beauty treatments courtesy of Babor, Elemis and Champneys, or try out that complementary therapy you've always fancied. Some of the Forest Mere specialities include sound therapy, naturopathy and even the uber glam-sounding Chromapeel Diamond Dermabrasion.
All the therapies are carried out with the utmost care by highly trained therapists so whether you opt for a simple facial, relaxing massage or reviving body treatment, you'll feel refreshed and happy after a session in a Champneys treatment room.
The location of Forest Mere makes it perfect for outdoor pursuits - bicycle hire, tennis courts and even a spot of trout fishing! There are plenty of indoor options too, with a hi-tech gym to work out in, classes to suit all ages, abilities and tastes and plenty of gorgeous pools to swim in, exercise in or just relax in if you just want to chill out and watch other people get fit.
Healthy eating is very much the order of the day with buffet lunches and three course dinners all designed to tantalise your taste buds in a healthy, wholesome way. The food at Forest Mere is fantastic whether you're watching your weight or not, and there's plenty of choice with all dietary requirements catered for with a bit of notice. Enjoy freshly prepared, delicious dishes that look and taste fabulous...even a glass of wine with your meal.
