Constructive criticism The Spa was in a fantastic location, in a beautiful, peaceful setting. The treatment area was lovely and the staff were all really helpful and the treatment staff very good. The food at dinner was also excellent. The only criticisms were that there were areas of the spa hotel which were cold. There were a lot of windows and the heating was not adequate to deal with that, especially when walking around with damp hair in robes. The swimming area, treatment rooms and bedrooms were also all a bit chilly. Secondly the lunch buffet was a bit limited in terms of meat or fish although there were a lot of salad options. Lastly the sitting rooms looked lovely and cosy but needed a fire and also there really needed to be a licensed bar as there was nowhere to get a relaxing drink before dinner. Other than that it was a highly enjoyable visit and I would certainly go back but probably only in summer! |

Excellent,with some qualifications Accommodation, food and service cannot be faulted - all excellent. However Spa could now do with a bit of refurbishment. Not every thing was working every day while we were there and in a couple of places it was a little shabby. Treatments are good but a bit overpriced for what they offer - most of the staff are very young and not very experienced. The overriding area of satisfaction is the service, wherever it is, the dining room, the bedrooms, the spa - ALL of the staff are very friendly, pleasant and helpful - in short, nothing is too much trouble for them, which makes for a very pleasant, relaxing stay. |

Marvellous and healthy break A 2 night/3 day break is a great treat which leaves you pampered, fit and looking forward to returning. The staff are most helpful and appear to enjoy their jobs - they say that Champneys looks after them well and I can easily believe it. Forest Mere is in a delightful rural setting with magnificent grounds and, of course, the delightful Mere in front of the Big House complete with swans, geese etc. Both indoor and outdoor swimming pools are a big draw in the breaks between treatments/exercise sessions etc and are beautifully maintained. The rooms are comfortable and well cleaned. The food is far too good ! I know this all sounds too good to be true, but we do enjoy it so much (and have been returning yearly since 1997). My only complaint is that, for the last three years or so, the small dinghy which we enjoyed rowing round the lake before breakfast, has been \"grounded\" (HSE !) |

Another happy visit Once again we thoroughly enjoyed being pampered by the staff in the excellent facilities at Forest Mere. We were fortunate with good weather which meant we could enjoy the outdoor pool as well as the indoor one. The treatments included in our package were most enjoyable and the staff happily re-arranged these to suit our convenience. My only complaint is that the small dinghy which used to be available for guests to use on the lake is still kept out of service. \"Health and Safety\" is always quoted ! |

spa break The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the treatments were fine but the place itself is rather \'tired\' and because of that I wouldn\'t go back. I also found it rather annoying that the pool, which is a nice size, was frequently being used at one end for classes, so it wasn\'t possible to swim the whole length when this was happening. The food was good but their licence only allowed alcoholic drinks with the evening meal and it would have been nice to have one before the evening meal which was not possible. |

A Great Day Out Very welcoming and helpful staff that were prepared to alter the timing of our treatments having arrived and seen the class schedule. The thalassotherapy pool was absolutely fantastic. Tasty lunch with picture windows onto the beautiful grounds, the relaxation room was a little dingy. More an experience for same sex friends than mixed couples, as relaxation room, steam room and plunge pool all within changing area and there are not many poolside loungers. There is a sauna poolside. |

Wonderfully relaxing experience The booking in experience was relatively painless and speedy. We were given an itinerary for our treatments upon arrival and having an hour or so before the first one, we took advantage of the lovely pool and steam room. The locker room and its facilities were excellent as were the treatments. Although, we didn’t use it, the gym looked to be very well equipped and there was quite a variety of classes in the fitness studio, but a day was not long enough. |
