£6m refurb for Sen Spa at Careys Manor, Hampshire

SenSpa is a new £6m spa development at Careys Manor hotel, located in Brockenhurst in the New Forest.  Sen is the Thai word for the energy lines within the body, and is also the Chinese word for forest, hence the naming of the spa.
 
SenSpa offers a fusion of eastern and western spa culture, which is reflected in the treatments, staff, décor and the products. 

Primarily centred on Thai philosophies, SenSpa places its emphasis on the inner healing and balance of the mind, body and spirit rather than external cosmetic beauty. This whole concept is further enhanced by the use of natural organic products, which contribute to the overall well-being of guests.

Facilities

The spa has a number of comprehensive facilities including 17 treatment rooms with two double rooms for friends or couples as well as the Zen Garden Restaurant that serves a delicious spa lunch using the finest organic and locally produced ingredients, cooked by a Thai chef.

Hydrotherapy pool  massage jets, relaxation loungers and a volcano, a circular area that erupts with air giving an overall massage

Ice room perfect for cooling down, containing crushed ice, also houses ‘Kubel Douche” - an overhead bucket containing cold water

Mud room/Rhassoul This treatment comprises an application of mud, steam and showering - great for soothing and cleansing the skin.

Laconicum a quiet warm room featuring domes, archways and a central fountain with heated relaxation benches, slabs and walls kept at approx 40̊

Tepidarium a relaxation room with five heated loungers is kept between 32-35̊ with a little essence and humidity
 
Herb Sauna less oppressive than a traditional sauna, this room is able to seat 10 people with a central feature stove and seasonal variations of herbs.
 
Crystal Steam room containing Amethyst Quartz crystals, this steam room has heated seats and flooring that create a more even steam temperature. with five colour changes and a choice of seasonal fragrances

Relaxation rooms there are two of these, one of which has music where you can chat and the other is a quiet darkened room

SenSpa’s unique signature massage is a full body oil massage that uses medium to deep pressure. This technique harmoniously blends five techniques from the great massage traditions of the East and West. Thai, Shiatsu, Ayurveda, Swedish and aromatherapy massages combine to create the ultimate pampering experience.

The western elements provide deep relaxation through Swedish massage and use aromatherapy oils. The Thai, Ayurvedic and Shiatsu massage techniques work on improving the body’s energy flow through the 10 major Sen lines, so the guest is more balanced emotionally, physically and mentally.
